What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

There are many benefits of dental implants! The most impressive thing about dental implants is that they fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This process allows for a strong and stable hold, unparalleled by other tooth replacement alternatives, such as bridges and dentures. There is a reason dentists recommend dental implants over other restorations. Benefits include:

  • Fortified and functional bite strength that feels just like real teeth
  • Ultimate comfort
  • Prevents bone loss by providing great structure
  • A realistic appearance
  • The most convenient option
  • Permanent replacement
  • Able to keep a normal oral hygiene routine
  • Most stable restoration
  • Healthier teeth and mouth, as implants provide excellent structure and keep other teeth from shifting

How do Dentures and Dental Implants compare?

Patients are realizing the limiting functionality of dentures and the lack of convenience they offer. Dentures offer an uneven bite strength, and even become ill-fitting with time. Dentures also must be removed daily for soaking and thorough cleaning. All of these inconveniences are erased with dental implants. Not only do dental implants stay in your mouth at all times, they also stay sturdily in your mouth, offering a strong and durable bite strength. There is no special cleaning routine required other than brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. Dental implants equals a return to a more normal smile.

How long does the Dental Implants process take?

The dental implants process takes a few months from start to finish and generally goes as follows:

Step 1: You will start with a personal consultation with Dr. Ajmo in which he will examine your mouth, teeth, gums, and jaw to determine if you are a candidate for dental implant surgery. If for some reason you are not a candidate, you may be able to become a candidate with the help of a bone graft or soft tissue graft.

Step 2: Once approved as a good candidate, dental implant surgery is the next step. Dr. Ajmo will prep you for surgery with a local anesthesia and may even use sedation dentistry if requested. In this straightforward procedure, Dr. Ajmo will embed the implants into your jawbone using a special drill. Once embedded, your gums will be stitched and you will be sent home to heal.

Step 3: The process of osseointegration will occur while the implants are healing. This is the fascinating process where the titanium implants fuse with the jawbone, making for the ultimate foundation.

Step 4: Once osseointegration is complete, you will come back in for the final restoration to be placed on the titanium implant. This restoration is made to match your other teeth and is typically crafted out of porcelain. This is the last step of the process and will complete your smile beautifully.

Can I afford Dental Implants?

The cost of implants can vary depending on the number of implants you are getting and if you require a bone or tissue graft before the surgery. A consultation is required to get an estimate on cost for your specific situation. For patients getting one or more implants, we offer the option of using Care Credit or Springstone. Both financing parties act as a credit card for health services. For many of the plans, there is no down payment required, low interest loans available, and no interest for up to 18 months.
